Overview of San Sebastian, Spain

* Autonomous region: Basque Country
* Province: Guipuzcoa – Guipuzkoa

San Sebastian, or Donostia as it is called in Basque, is a coastal city located in the Basque Autonomous Community (in Spain), on the coast of the Bay of Biscay, 20 km (12 miles) from the French border. San Sebastian has a circular bay with pristine white sand beaches that have long attracted wealthy beach-goers in search of sun and sophistication. In more recent years, San Sebastian has gained significant press for its cuisine. Despite its relative small size (186,000 inhabitants), international events are also held here. The most famous of these is the San Sebastian International Film Festival.

The approximate distance to Logroño (La Rioja’s capital) in a straight line is 102.37 Kms. There are some trains and buses which connect both cities, so it’s easy to reach La Rioja from San Sebastian. It takes about 2 hours.
