RIOJA WINE TOURS FROM SAN SEBASTIAN

San Sebastian is my favorite city in the north of Spain, next to the sea with beautiful small villages around and one of the best places to eat in the world!

Transportation from San Sebastian (Guipuzcoa) to the Rioja area:

You have three different options to take one of our Rioja Wine Tours from San Sebastian :

1) With your own car:

The easiest way, since San Sebastian (Guipuzcoa) is around 2 hours from Logroño (the capital of La Rioja), approximately 180 km. There are two different routes, but I would recommend to take the A-15 highway to Pamplona, including around 6 km in toll highway called “AP15” whose price is 2.15 Euros (each way) and then, from Pamplona you have to take the A-12 highway to Logrono.

You can see the itinerary here to enjoy our Rioja Wine Tours from San Sebastian .

2) By train:

You can take the train in San Sebastian (Guipuzcoa) at 8:57am and you will arrive to Miranda de Ebro (Burgos) at 10:52am where we will be waiting for you to start our tour together.

To go back to San Sebastian by train you have 2 options and both of them are leaving from Logrono (La Rioja). We will tell you which train you have to take according to the route, if you should get on the train at 5:41pm arriving at San Sebastian at 7:48pm; or if you should take the train at 6:50pm arriving at San Sebastian at 8:49pm.

Price (approx.): 40 Euros (round trip)

Please check the schedule here and you will be able to taste as many wines as you want with our Rioja Wine Tours from San Sebastian.

3) Private transport:

We will pick you up and drop you off at your hotel in San Sebastian or other nearby town, to take our Rioja Wine Tours from San Sebastian.

Overview of San Sebastian, Spain

* Autonomous region: Basque Country

* Province: Guipuzcoa – Guipuzkoa

San Sebastian, or Donostia as it is called in Basque, is a coastal city located in the Basque Autonomous Community, on the coast of the Bay of Biscay, 20 km (12 miles) from the French border. San Sebastian has a circular bay with pristine white sand beaches that have long attracted wealthy beach-goers in search of sun and sophistication. In more recent years, San Sebastian has gained significant fame for its cuisine. Despite its relative small size (186,000 inhabitants), international events are also held here. The most famous of these is the San Sebastian International Film Festival.

The approximate distance to Logroño (La Rioja’s capital) in a straight line is 100 Kms. There are some trains and buses which connect both cities in about 2 hours, so it’s easy to take one of our Rioja Wine Tours from San Sebastian.

Rioja Wine Tours from San Sebastian

A fantastic wine experience

Trying to organize a wine tour to a place in the world from where you have no prior knowledge or experience, and on your own can be quite a daunting. Finding interesting producers who have the time and skill to share their knowledge can be hard. By luck we happened on the “Rioja Like A Native» and what a find! Our guide Rebeca organised to pick us up in San Sebastian and shuttle us to the first of three Wineries we were to visit. A small scale traditional producer with great wines which sadly cannot be found in our neck of the world … Read more

Rioja Wine Tours from San Sebastian

Professional, Fun, and Well Organized

Communication was very clear from the beginning, as Rebecca helped us plan a day that was customized to our interests. She picked us up from where we stayed near San Sebastian, and drove us to Rioja. We visited 3 wineries that were very different from each other, and in each visit we learned a different aspect about the region’s history and the wine making process. For lunch we visited the lovely medieval town of Laguardia, perched up on a hill overlooking the region. Then she drove us back and dropped us home 12 hours later … Read more
