Great days in Rioja and Ribera del Douro
We contacted Rebeca a couple of months before we were scheduled to be in the Logrono area. We were looking for private wine tours in Rioja and Ribera del Douro. Rebeca made suggestions and gave us choices for the tours and when our reservation fell through, she helped us to choose a hotel in Logrono. She always responded promptly, courteously and appropriately. We spent a wonderful day touring wineries in Rioja. We visited wineries of various styles and ages and all had great quality wine. Rebeca suggested lunch in the beautiful mediaeval town of LaGuardia. It was wonderful! The traditional tapas lunch with matching wines was great and the view from LaGuardia was spectacular. Two days later, we spent the day visiting wineries in Ribera del Douro. Again, the wineries were varied: from small and traditional to large and avant guarde. Lunch was a highlight of our two days of touring: we had Castilian lamb in another mediaeval village. The lamb was cooked in a traditional oven for hours and had to be pre-ordered, and it turned out to be fantastic! I would recommend that meal choice to anyone. Rebeca is personable and very caring about those whom she hosts. Her boyfriend/partner joined us for the two days and it felt like we were travelling with friends. They were kind ehough to drop us at the train station at the end of our second day to facilitate our travel to Madrid. Overall, our experience with Rioja Like a Native was outstanding. We really enjoyed our time with her in Rioja and Ribera del Douro with Rebeca. Read more
